This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It’s an adventure in Room 112. Though the class is a Special Education classroom, my students are the coolest, and there is never a dull moment with them. They are funny, outspoken, BRUTALLY HONEST, loving, and try their very best to achieve success no matter how little. They teach me new things that I would not have ventured into- like how not to dance like a GRANDMA!. Most of all, I continue to learn from them and grateful for the things they have taught me so far.
My Project
Standing in front of a group of autistic students and expect to lecture them into learning is not only impossible but extremely difficult as they will just not be engaged. The question is “How do I get them engaged?” The answer is Center Rotations. Most of my students need a lot of repetition in order to learn, maintain and generalize a skill. This can be effectively done by using Centers. Not only can they solidify learning through this means, but it also gives them the chance to independent. Language Instant Learning Centers is an excellent choice as it helps build beginning language skills which most of my students need and also fosters independent learning.
