Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten students learn best with hands-on activities. This includes using technology (Kindle Fire) and work station games from all areas. We need more of these items to create the best learning environment possible. It is important to build basic skills now for their success in the future.
I teach at a Title 1 school that is full of students that amaze me every year!
Many of them come from low income homes and have not had many educational experiences. When they come to school, they are so excited to learn and explore new things. They especially love using technology to learn reading and math. They are also very curious about science and love to investigate their senses, weather and other science concepts found in the world around them. Since these students have not had as many educational experiences, they need a lot of teacher support and materials to encourage them to learn.
My Project
The Kindle Fire will allow my students to learn how to use technology. They will also use the technology to develop reading and math skills. The science, math and language arts games will be used to reinforce concepts that are taught in the class. They will provide them hands-on opportunities which is how children love to learn. We will use these games in work stations and small group. They will also provide the students that are struggling with another resource for learning concepts. By making learning fun now, our students will be more excited about learning in future grades and will have developed the skills necessary for them to be successful.
This project is important to me because these students deserve the opportunity to have an education that meets their learning needs.
My job as a kindergarten teacher is to provide my students with materials that are fun, but educational so my students develop a love of learning that they can carry with them the rest of their life. I can accomplish this for my students by providing them with developmentally appropriate materials that enhance their learning. Thank you for supporting my students.
