I teach 4th grade in a small town of diverse learners that inspire me to be a better teacher every day! They come to school eager, ready to learn, and look forward to being challenged. They also set high standards and goals for themselves and continue to impress me on a daily basis.
Our school has achieved great accomplishments by setting very high standards and creating new learning activities specifically tailored to challenge, inspire, and empower our students.
With your help, we can give them high interest, quality books that are at their level.
My Project
My students LOVE reading the Who Was...? series. These books are about famous people who were/are trailblazers, legends, and innovators that have made a positive impact on others' lives. Best of all, they are at my students' reading level and are very interesting to them.
These books will also help with our Biography Unit.
Each year, our students pick a person they would like to research and write a biography on. Then they do an oral presentation in front of the class as though they are that person. Unfortunately, with not having a lot of biographies in my library, they have to find books in other places. This can be hard with eight classes of 4th graders doing this project at the same time. Many times they can't find a book on someone they like, so they pick someone they are not interested in, which means their interest level in the project decreases greatly. You can help me with this dilemma. With your help, we can add 30 additional books that can inspire my students not only on their project but in their lives.
