I teach a class of severely mentally and physically disabled students, in a small town in South Carolina. I have 8 students who range in age from 3-18 years old. We are located in a regular elementary school in our district. None of the students in my class can talk, but most can communicate by pointing and gesturing. We have a computer in our classroom with a touch monitor. This allows the students to activate the computer by touching pictures on the monitor instead of using the mouse. This equipment allows the students to do fun activities and learning activities. But, we need more software that the students can use. There is a software package that I believe would greatly benefit my students. It is designed for students with disabilities. It is used to teach functional language including objects and activities that they see every day. The program is divided into 2 parts, My House and My School. This program would provide an opportunity for my students to learn about and express new ideas through using the computer. Please consider donating this software package to my class.
