My Students
What I love about teaching 5th grade is that they are old enough to be independent and to use critical thinking skills, yet they are still young enough to play, be silly, and not be afraid to show that they care. We have a school community full of diverse learners from different backgrounds. We strive to nurture a sense of community and positivity in our school. Each and every one of our students is wonderful and special in their own way and I can't wait to start a new school year with them!
My Project
A big goal that I have for my students this year is to learn about and practice Growth Mindset. “In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.” ( Dweck, 2015)
These journals will help my students learn what it means to change their thoughts about hard work and how to think more positively about their growth in learning.
These daily practice journals will be a great way for my students to see examples of Growth Mindset and to really challenge themselves to find ways that they can apply this concept to their own learning.
