This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students attend an inner-city public school where approximately 90% live below the poverty line. We spend a lot of time doing hands-on learning.
All of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch and participate in the backpack program on the weekends.
This does not stop our students from coming to school and showing their love for learning. We love to explore everything around us, both inside and outside of the classroom. We love to show what we know and learn in a hands-on way.
My Project
This project will make a world of difference in our class. Every year we seem to get more students from other countries and while we try to explain their different cultures and traditions it is sometimes hard for young children to understand.
These books will bring the world into our classroom in a child friendly way.
We can explore each others cultures and learn about how we are different but also the same! The kids are so curious about each other - especially when they wear different styles of clothing or eat different foods. These books will help bring it to their level and allow us great discussions!
