My students need music and art supplies, such as stamps, craft trays, collage leaves, gemstones, collage pots, and art frames, to help them learn about different cultures.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students and I work and learn together in a second grade classroom in a New York Public School.
In second grade each month, we learn about a new culture from around the world.
This year I would like to focus our culture studies on music and art. Allowing my students to research and understand different cultures through the lens of music and art will hopefully bring a new understanding and appreciation of each culture.
My Project
In order to learn about different cultures through the lens of music and art, I would like to utilize many different music CDS and art supplies to immerse the students in the different cultures. The CD I am requesting is a multicultural music CD that features lively dances, beautiful rhythms and fun-to-sing songs — all designed to teach tolerance & respect for others. I am also requesting a variety of art supplies to allow us to create projects ranging from the 19th century Japan's Gyotaku Fish Printing to creating a stone mosaic design.
Learning about different cultures is such an important part of our curriculum and doing this through music and art will make it that much more memorable for my students.
Please help my students find a new appreciation for different cultures around the world by researching cultures through music and art.
