Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am delighted to introduce my kindergarten students! My creative and very curious dual language kindergarten students enjoy learning and having class discussions on new topics in both English and Spanish. As a classroom, we strategically construct opportunities to share our thoughts and ideas and make connections within subject areas. My students really enjoy hands-on activities, making observations and having class discussions about new findings, information, and conclusions. They come to school every day sharing their experiences, new learning, and ideas, and then go back home to share what they have learned with family members.
My kindergarten students enhance their knowledge about their own culture and other cultures around the world with classroom activities and hands-on materials.
Classroom activities and hands-on materials are essential to their learning and experiences. Classroom activities help students grow academically, but very importantly, it helps them make personal connections and learn about other cultures around them.
My Project
As a dual language classroom, we are in need of authentic culture books such as books that are not translated, but written by authentic authors. These books provide my students with rich opportunities to learn how authors express and write in different countries, how are songs, holidays and traditions the same and different around the world.
Authentic Books provide authentic and unique learning experiences to my students!
These books will help my students meet learning standards in teacher design units plus learning about people around the world. The books will be used in whole group read alouds, small group instruction and individualized learning centers and activities.
