My students range from 1st to 12th grade and come from a diverse background with a significant portion receiving free and reduced lunch. The median household income for a family is just over $50,000. They love collaborating with their peers, solving problems, and creating projects on their Chromebooks. Some of my student's favorite projects include pair programming and game design.
The classroom runs on the 4Cs of the 21st learning model where students are communicating, collaborating, creating, and using critical thinking in every project.
We start each class with the motto "Today we will, have a good learning attitude, and be an active problem solver." Their love for learning is evident every time they walk through the door ready and eager to explore the next topic.
My Project
My students love to read and I want to encourage students reading by bringing more books into my classroom. As a specials teacher I have a limited classroom library and would love to expand it to give students more choices. There are a ton of awesome computer science related books that my students would love to read. The list of books requested range from kindergarten reading level up to sixth grade.
The books will help students visualize complex concepts related to coding, computers, and digital citizenship.
From reading these books as a class we can dive into vocabulary and discuss key terms. The picture books will engage students into the story and help them visualize the key concepts we are discussing.
