Help me give my students books about careers so that they can see some future career opportunities.
This project expired on February 9, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are hard workers at an urban, inner-city school. All of our students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language, and in many cases school is their only exposure to English.
My students come to school each day excited to learn and to see what the day has in store for them.
The students come from varied family situations, including some who live with grandparents and some who live with other relatives. I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them many possibilities in their educational experiences.
These books will help my students not only see ways that they can help their community, but also careers that they could choose to pursue.
Many of my students do not know about all of the career possibilities that are out there and these book sets will help them see that they can do whatever they choose.
Having a career is an important part of being financially literate and being able to support your family. While this is a struggle for many of the families that I work with, these books will show them that they have other options.
The career book sets will help my students see career opportunities while the community helper book sets will help them see that being a community helper can be a career.
