My students are constantly faced with challenges most people couldn't imagine. Despite the constant struggle, these students come to school every day, ready to learn. I am looking to keep their love of learning alive and bright.
The students are in 2nd grade and love to learn about everything.
Their curiosity is strong, and I aim to keep it that way. All students receive free lunch based on their living situations, and most students live in a single-parent household. I focus on the positives in their lives during the school day, especially since most students don't have much positive in their lives.
I cannot control what happens beyond the school day, but I know I can help keep their spirits alive and engage them in hands-on learning.
Younger kids absolutely love to have books read to them. Using picture books is a great way to introduce kids to new concepts or people.
I am asking for biography picture books for students to learn about famous Black Americans who changed our world.
Many of my students do not know about Black history. Using these books will allow me to introduce these great American figures in an age appropriate manner. These books give the main idea of how each person changed or influenced America in a positive manner. Using these books will also guide students in writing their first research report and how to use facts from a nonfiction source.
