Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third grade teacher at Valle Vista School within the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District in San Jose, California. Our school is nicely balanced with a variety of language groups and ethnicities. Even though I teach all subjects, I absolutely love teaching Social Studies the most! I try to make history come alive by telling the students stories about our history instead of having them read from the text. I feel they gain so much more because they are actually interested in learning. I would love to have a resource that complements what I teach my students and re-enforces what they have learned. I have found a set of board games that I feel will meet my needs for my students. Each game focuses on a different Social Studies area. My students can learn more about our fifty states or Lewis and Clark and have fun at the same time! Wouldn't you love to have your teacher to tell you to "Go play a game" during Social Studies time? The best part is the students are still actively learning during the game! There are so many options for this resource. I can use it to give additional help for some students and I can use it to review for a test. This is a great opportunity to make learning fun. Whenever we are able to make learning fun, the students are the winners. Please help fund this worthwhile project. Thank you!
