My students need books about alternative energy, a solar car, an electricity lab, colored paper, pencils, a science game, solar oven, chart paper and markers.

Learning about alternative energy now will help us use alternative energy later. My students will be part of the solution to find sources for alternate energy. I want to provide my students with experiences that will last a life time!
My students are active fourth graders who want nothing more than to prove to others that they can achieve anything they put their minds to.
They go to school at a public Title I school in Florida. They are up for any challenge, they actually enjoy being challenged. It makes them work harder and strive to come out on top. With limited resources at home, the more resources we have at school within the classroom, the better. They want to be looked upon as high achieving students no matter what reading level they may be on, as long as they are succeeding at that level.
I am requesting several books about alternate energy for my students to read. These books will help support their learning after they have completed several hands on lab experiments. Students will be able to build and use wind turbines and solar cars to learn about the benefits of alternative energy. Students can bake cookies in the sun with a solar oven to learn about solar energy. Practicing what they have learned with a science game will provide students an engaging activity to review science concepts. After completing the electricity labs, solar labs and renewable energy labs, students will be able to research more information about energy, alternate energy and ways to conserve energy. Students will be able to record their experiments, create presentations, and research information using the composition books, vocabulary workbooks, pencils, markers and chart paper. The experiments will encourage all of my students to learn more after our labs in the classroom.

Providing hands on learning experiences will provide my students a way to learn about energy. Students will learn about clean renewable energy that we will be able to use to power cars, houses and schools in the future. If my students learn about energy conservation now, they may conserve the use of energy later!
