My students need a 3D printer to get a first hand experience learning about 3D printing. I would like for my students to become inventors and innovators and continue using hands on learning!
Our school hails students from Long Island City, Queens that live in a low income socioeconomic community.
There are approximately 500 students from Kindergarten through grade five.
Our students thrive on using technology to learn and connect to places and people they couldn't before! These tools help our students thrive in the classroom. I am the Technology and Computers Teacher at my school. I see first hand how important hands-on approach to applying technology is. My students are mostly from low socio-economic communities in Queens, NY. My students deserve much more than what they are provided with. I am seeking out for your help to promote computer science in my classroom to provide my all my students with a unique opportunity.
Thank you for your support! Our students will be so happy to hear that they will have the opportunity to learn further more about computer science.
My Project
This project is to help my students continue learning about computer science and technology. By using a 3D printer they will become innovators and use hands on to learn about 3D printers and printing. I love to watch my students be engaged and excited about their learning, while practicing important skills that they can transfer to their careers later in life.
I would like this 3D printer to help my students become immersed in a true 21st century technology lab.
My students will benefit from this project by integrating various STEM and Social Studies concepts. Instead of looking up images of totem poles, students will be creating their own. In addition, my students will be using 3D printing to apply mathematics concepts using the Cura 3D software by utilizing graphs. Lastly, my students will be using the 3D printer by using the design process in creating their objects/projects.
