My Students
My students' biggest challenge is getting my students motivated when they believe they are not good at something. By the end of the year, I want my students to be confident, independent, self-assured young adults who are ready to overcome any obstacle. I would like them to believe that their attitude determines their altitude.
My students are amazing innovators ready to take over the world with their multi-language abilities.
A typical day in my class starts with a Spanish greeting at the door and them asking millions of questions. I can say my students are very intelligent and I have to proactively study to keep up with them. My kids have the ability and hunger to learn the target language. I can say culture, ethnicity and differences are truly valued here; I want to keep fostering that classroom culture. I want students to feel comfortable and have all they need to learn. I'm blessed to have ended up teaching at this incredible school where education is a priority.
My Project
We are a school that doesn't follow the traditional method of teaching. We love to give our students the experience of being learners of the world. When they walk into my classroom I want them to feel that they will be learning a foreign language. Having the Latin-American decoration like the Mexican style table runners and Spaniard flowers will give a sense of emerging into a new world at least for fifty minutes a day. The putty, command hooks, and painters tape will allow us to show off their work in the hallway and classroom while still protecting the beautiful space we have been allowed to have. The organizational trays will allow us to keep order of assignments by periods. We certainly need a cabinet to have things stored to keep our class environment safe and under control. This will allow us to keep our class supplies organized and easily access them without having them to be stored somewhere else in the building or outside the school.
My students are willing to take charge of their education and these supplies will allow just that.
The presentation clicker will allow them to teach what they have learned and show off the abilities they possess. Having magnetic borders and whiteboard magnets will help my students that have learning disabilities focus on assignments by sections. Having the ability to separate assignments into small chunks prevents them from getting overwhelmed. I have students who often need to work by themselves and need additional lighting which will allow them to have a safe corner with a lamp where they can focus and reach the same expectations with a few accommodations. With your help, our students will get these supplies that will make a huge difference with few accommodations.
