Learn With Exciting Stories From Storyworks Junior
My students need Storyworks Junior. Storyworks Junior is a multigenre language arts magazine. Every issue features nonfiction, fiction, read-aloud plays, quizzes, and skills sheets.
My students are second and third graders in a multi-age classroom. The multi-age experience provides students with a unique learning opportunity. In their second year, they become mentors to the younger students. They are inquisitive, creative, independent thinkers with a thirst for knowledge.
My school is located in a suburban South Florida community.
The population of my school has changed over the past several years. We now have a larger percentage of students that are on free and reduced-price lunch, and lacking much of the background knowledge needed. However, they are always looking for new and creative ways to challenge how they think and problem-solve.
My Project
Bringing Storyworks Junior into the classroom would be an exciting and meaningful learning opportunity for my students. The magazine offers a variety of articles in multiple genres (e.g. nonfiction, short fiction, read-aloud plays, paired texts, poetry), online differentiation tools and resources, activities, audio read-alouds, and videos.
Storyworks Junior is a magazine that grows with the students through the school year.
Storyworks Junior engages students with differentiated activities that reinforce foundational skills (learning to read) and build comprehension skills (reading to learn). The online resources give students digital access to articles and videos, it provides them with opportunities for interaction and prepares them for our digital world. My students would be so excited to have access to Storyworks Junior in their classroom.
