Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher in Houston. Our school serves scholars from grades K to 8. I have a class of 25 students with bright minds. I teach Language Arts in English and Spanish, Math, Science and Social Studies.
They are very motivated children and I would like to keep and increase that motivation for learning.
Their curiosity has no limits!
The biggest challenge I have now is the lack of resources, I teach in a Title I school with limited resources.
I would like to take advantage of students’ interests and enrich their learning.
My Project
My students have already read some of Dr. Seuss’ books this month. They love Dr. Seuss and they have asked me if there are more books of this writer. So, it will be great to have several of his books in our class. In that way we can read them during our read aloud and enjoy a lot or even they can be read in their read to self workstations.
These materials are very visual, perfect for my first grade students, they will learn to read and write using these wonderful materials.
Word family, phonics and sight word games will be fantastic for their master of phonics, reading and writing.
