My students are going places with reading.
My students love to read and I love being part of their journey with books. They access text in a variety of ways during our daily reading workshop time: read aloud, independent reading, small group, buddy reading, online apps, and listening center.
Our K-6 school is located in a small rural town in the heart of mid-coast Maine. With only one class per grade, each teacher plays a HUGE part in the education of every student in our school.
My Project
Listening to audiobooks and using online reading resources are just a few of the many ways that my students like to access books. Students that are below grade level in reading loose ground more rapidly. As they move up in school, reading becomes all about learning new information and content. Providing access to audiobooks and online reading resources supports reading skill development.
Audiobooks help students engage in text and gain exposure to more words, ultimately improving vocabulary, comprehension and critical thinking skills.
The products I have selected will allow my students to use our classroom listening center and online reading resources without disturbing others during reading workshop.
