Our school has a 91% poverty rate and the majority of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. The students are extremely diverse and living in an urban setting. They do not have access to many resources at home.
My students are eager to learn and grow academically!
My classroom has 10 students with IEPs and a range of disabilities. My students have been practicing growth mindset. We don't say "I can't" in my classroom, we say "I can't do that Yet". These students persevere and try their best!
Because of limited resources in my school our classroom libraries are lacking. We are focusing on Lucy Calkin's Units of Study. A big part of this is independent reading time.
My students need high interest books to foster a love for reading and to motivate them to read!
One of the units is a mystery study. My students need mystery books to help them with this unit.
Book bins will help keep our classroom library organized and will provide easier access to the students. After they read students will be writing about reading in their writer's notebooks. Their finished work will go into their writing folders.
