This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When my students come into the classroom, they are given the chance to put aside any troubles they have and be a part of a community. I believe that we are helping shape the future citizens of our community and reading is essential to their success! I want my classroom and the materials in it to allow for equity among all members. This means books and materials that all students can access at their interest and ability level. We need Clifford the Big Red Dog book set.

These are elementary students, just beginning to explore all that the world has to offer.

They still have the innocence of childhood and are learning how to navigate the school setting.

The students at my school truly aspire to the meaning of our school mascot, The Heroes. They are Heroes because they work hard and always do their best. They are challenged on a daily basis and always find a way to be successful. Heroes have growth mindsets-- they never give up! These Heroes are not only problem solvers; they love to share their ideas, their answers, their stories, and they just love to learn! Our Heroes are caring people, problem solvers, and life-long learners.

Making reading accessible means making reading fun!
