My students need technology. We have tablets that are outdated and often cannot even charge or connect to the internet. The 5 Chromebooks are a wonderful resource because they are reliable.
My school is ECE - 8th grade and filled with unique wonderful students. The students in my class are fun and have inquiring minds and are ready to learn despite the challenges they face before they even come to school. We have students with a variety of issues that affect their learning when they come to school - hunger, homelessness, and single-parent families to name a few.
"They May Forget What You Said, But They Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel".
This is a quote that I try to live by in my classroom. I hope to be able to use this technology in a variety of ways that will increase their learning and help them do student-driven projects that allow them to take ownership of their learning.
My Project
These chromebooks will be so valuable to my classroom. There is only one cart with technology that is used for 4 classrooms so it's difficult to use them when we need them. I teach math and there is a great program that we can use to help the students hone their math skills (greatly needed) but we cannot use the program regular due to the lack of availability of the technology. The students will greatly benefit from this program and it reinforces what we are learning in class in a fun way that allows me to monitor their progress and assign them the practice they need. In science these would allow me to give the students more freedom to do projects and hands-on learning that will really get them more involved in science and use higher level thinking skills and activities. I cannot express enough how important and helpful these chrome books would be for my students' success!
