My students need some new seating options!! I have bean bag chairs, camping chairs, and floor seating options to help us learn in our own comfortable way!
I have a group of amazing 5th graders this year!! We live in a small rural farming community but we are very close to a bigger college town so we have students from many different backgrounds. We have built a culture of acceptance and kindness in our classroom that has shown tremendously through the students actions and conversations. I have had an absolute blast working with these students so far this year and can't even explain how excited I am to continue!
My Project
My students are doing their best as learners, but we have a large class size and bulky group table desks making it difficult to work independently and have our own space.
Fifth graders love to get up and a walk around but also like to sit down and work in comfort.
They hate being crowded uncomfortable. I have discussed this seating with them and they are very excited about maybe getting the chance to learn in their own comfort. We have tested it out with bringing their own chairs from home in and that has been good. I would really like to be able to provide most of the seating for students especially because then everyone has a choice of what seating will work for them individually. Bringing in wobble seats will give my students a great chance to sit in a seat that allows them to move a bit with out being distracting to other students! Having more bean bag options and camping chairs will give them their own learning space as well as a fun and different experience in the classroom! I am a big fan of learning comfortably and I know i love sitting back with a good book or working on school work in a chair that is comfortable so I can only imagine it will help my students enjoy their work also!!!
