My school has approximately 1700 students from all walks of life, but about 70% of them come from low-income families and neighborhoods. My students work hard and try their best to make themselves and their school better. My students are eager to learn and motivated to achieve anything that will better them in the future workplace as well as their community. They are members of the Academy of Information Technology within the Institute of Business and Technology and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). My students participate in four different courses while they are in the academy and during their Junior year they take Python Programming.
We want to make learning how to code FUN!!
Since programming is part of our curriculum for the course, we might as well have some fun while we are learning it.
My Project
The Raspberry Pi kits will allow the students to use up-to-date technology and prepare themselves for the workforce of the future. Our plan is to use our knowledge of computers and technology to upload our programs to the Raspberry Pi and watch it work. This will make learning how to program, fun.
These students from low income families need to learn on the most current technology to be prepared for their future.
The kits will make it possible for the students to work in groups and share the kits to complete their projects.
