Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When I walk into our classroom I can feel the positive energy! I want my students to have the technology they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
My students are kindergarteners who attend an inner city, public school in Chicago.
They live in a high poverty and high crime neighborhood. Despite these challenges, they are positive and love to learn and play. They have hard working parents that are involved in their education. Unfortunately, many students do not have access to the materials they can enjoy and learn from until they get to school. My goal is to provide as many learning experiences in an engaging and safe environment as I can.
My Project
I selected an ASUS desktop computer because of its high speed processing ability. My students will have 21st century technology at their finger tips. The Allowance Game CD-ROM, will provide valuable practice with money as they race to earn and spend their allowance. It includes a built-in work space for counting coins and bills. It will strengthen their addition, subtraction and money skills. The Daily Interactive Math Station CD-ROM will reinforce math concepts such as time, money, measurement and more as they solve a new math problem each day. It includes 180 interactive problems at 3 levels-and provides instant reinforcement. They will use these resources everyday during math time.
