My Students

Our students are passionate readers, who enjoy reading all kinds of books. They enjoy reading nonfiction and chapter books. At times, they share books with the classroom if we are working on a specific topic if we don't have the books. They enjoy participating in experiments and exploring new topics.

My Project

This unit is where students learn to study the world around them, pose questions, hypothesize, conduct experiments and write about the results. They will learn the basic structure of scientific writing (introduction, hypothesis, materials, procedure, results, and conclusion) through the study of force and motion using mentor texts, examples of strong science writing, and through hands-on experiments they conduct with partners. The unit culminates with an information book on a topic about force and motion.

Students will understand that scientists ask questions about the world around them and make keen observations, which they communicate through discussions and through writing.

They follow objective procedures to test hypotheses, record data in a manner that is clear to others, and make conclusions about what they see. The books that we need will help students to learn about force and motion in everyday life.
