My students participate in a program our district calls the Comprehensive Intervention Program or CIP for short. This is fancy talk for a self-contained classroom with one-on-one support. The goal of this program is to give them the education they need with some extra support in order to prepare them for the things they will face in life!
My students all have different levels of ability, each bringing a unique personality to the classroom.
That being said, they have a huge range of disabilities, I have students with Speech and Language delays, autism, as well as students with mild to severe cognitive delays. They are all wonderful and unique individuals, individuals that learn in multiple, different ways so we need multiple, different kinds of materials.
My Project
The Leap Start go system as well as the books and materials that go along with them will drastically change the learning environment for several of my students. The hands on manipulated pen reaches many different skills for my students from fine motor and gross motor skills, but also academic skills that they are using the pen to learn.
My students will make leaps and bounds with these learning materials.
The Leap Start pens and books will not only change their academic learning but their life skills learning as well.
