Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school where over 80% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Being a Title I schools dictates that many of our funds be allocated to essential classroom materials necessary for our core subject areas, leaving little room for the ancillary instructional materials.
Verbal and mental problem-solving skills are vital to the academic growth and development of Kindergarten students. By implementing literacy centers, my students, including our ESOL/Hispanic students can participate in both student and teacher led activities.
With the gift of the literacy center materials, I can provide more opportunities for my students to be engaged and excited about learning. Many of my students begin school less prepared than their peers and I want to provide them with a solid, literacy rich foundation that meets their needs. Additionally, Kindergarten students develop team-work abilities as they work together with a peer to accomplish a common goal.
We are a Kindergarten room full of active boys and girls! Hop along and help us leap into literacy centers! A, B, C... can you help me?
