My students need materials and learning resources that will help them succeed in the common core curriculum. This will also eliminate the need for multiple copies.
I start off the day with a dance (who doesn't love moving around?!) My kids love the dinosaur stomp by KooKoo Kangaroo! I've gotten their wiggles out, have woken them up, and now they are ready to learn! We do lots of movement and talking thanks to Whole Brain Teaching.
Miss Tiffany's first grade class is in a title 1 school/ low poverty.
Many times it is necessary for me to give them experiences that build their background knowledge. If I may brag, I have some of the hardest working students I know. They surprise me each day and have grown so much since the beginning of the year.
My Project
The dry erase pockets, math cards, and writing task cards will help me supplement my lessons. When we break into centers, the students will get extra practice with the skills. If I notice they are having difficulty I can pull that card or task back out and not have to make more copies! This will make my time planning more efficient and allow me to focus more on teaching rather than preparing.
It is difficult to get the students excited about writing with a pencil and writing paper, but with a dry erase marker and a dry erase board/surface it seems to give them an extra jolt of excitement.
My whole goal is to make learning fun and something that my students look forward to. "Learning is a treasure that accompanies us everywhere."
