My first graders will leap into reading using the Tag School Reader pens and interactive books. I teach first grade in Nevada. I work at a school that has a split schedule and the students come at two different times. The split schedule allows me to teach reading to a smaller group of children.
I currently have 20 first graders in my room and when I teach reading I pull small groups of students so I can effectively teach each child at the level he or she is at. The level of the students ranges from kindergarten through about third grade. During this time the other students need to be working independently on activities or centers. First graders do not have a very long attention span and it is sometimes difficult for them to do something independently for a certain amount of time without assistance. I currently have a listening center, a writing center, a learning games center and a library for the students to go to for this independent learning time. I would love to enhance my centers by adding the tag school readers and books.
The Tag School Reader is an easy to use handheld learning tool for students from kindergarten through third grade. These personal learning tools respond to every touch on special designed Tag books, with audio feedback and on demand reading assistance. The engaging activities within each book focus on core reading skills including comprehension, vocabulary development, phonics and phonemic awareness. My students have a love for books and really enjoy using my classroom library during the center time.
There are often times that my low reading students choose not to read because they get stuck on certain words and don't have someone to help because I am working with one on my reading groups. The Tag School Readers will help them feel even more successful with reading because when they get stuck they will not have to come to me or ask someone else for help. The Tag system allows the students to read and learn at their own level. A students who is reading only a few words and a student who is a very fluent reader can use the same book and the Tag System will allow them to interact with the book at their level.
