How do you find the time to read one-on-one with 27 five and six year olds? With such a large group, I wish I could clone myself to create more opportunities to read one-on-one with my students. The LeapFrog Tag Reader can help give my students an experience like I am reading with them.
I teach 27 full day kindergarten students in a wonderful, inviting elementary school.
I teach all subject areas including: reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and health. Our school district is struggling financially, which doesn't leave any money for extra materials for our classrooms. This year my students are full of energy and like to be kept busy. And they are so eager to learn, especially when it comes to reading.
My Project
This LeapFrog Tag Reader would become a part of our daily literacy work stations. This learning system would give my students the opportunity to read more challenging books on their own! I can't always be there to help sound out a challenging word or model fluent reading, so this tag system can help do that for me. There is also a variety of literature to go along with it. The books they come with the system would definitely appeal to my students.
As class sizes grow, I really need the extra help to provide my students with what they need.
Sometimes all they need is someone to sit and read with them. I do that as much as I can, but I am only one person. This LeapFrog Tag Reader would be another way for my students to get that extra support they need when reading. It would make a wonderful addition to my classroom.
