Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Love school. Love reading. Live reading." Students come to first grade already frustrated with their reading struggles. These tag readers allow these students to enjoy great stories, learn one to one correspondence, and get repeated exposure to pre-primer and primer sight words.
Our classroom consists of low econimic standing, language learners, and students with varying exceptionalities.
The one thing that all of the first graders have in common is they are able to love to come to school and read. We work hard everyday to learn as much as we can and we put strong focus on happiness, kindness, and perseverance.
My Project
The Leapfrog Tag Reader System allows students that have not yet engaged in reading to have that opportunity. They grab these books and pens and listen to great engaging stories while tracking the words in the story with the pen that reads the story to them. There are also questions in these stories to check for comprehension. I also added the long and short vowel books to help our students with these concepts early in the year.
I am blessed to be able to help students learn to love reading.
These Tag Readers are amazing. They allow students, who have not yet developed their reading tools, the chance to truly enjoy the stories in front of them.
