Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been a principal in a diverse and urban school for the last four years. I am dedicated and passionate about what I do and could not imagine doing anything else. As a leader, I work every day to create equity in our classrooms and help teachers to realize the value of creative planning and SEL sensitivity for our Title I environment. Our students come to school ready to learn new things and succeed in a caring and culturally responsive environment.
Our students are inquisitive, creative, and insightful learners.
I strongly believe that with the right mindset the possibilities for student learning and success is limitless. My hope is to provide an inclusive environment where students can grow into passionate life-long learners.
My Project
Through Mindspark Learning, we have the wonderful opportunity to attend a three-day institute on Equity-Centered Design Thinking and Innovative Mindsets. This institute will help us re-imagine our teaching spaces and provide opportunities to explore how the equity-centered design process can be used as a tool for innovative teaching practice.
As one of the most diverse schools in our district, our teachers are committed to learning more about culturally responsive teaching practices and improving on how we serve all of our students with equity.
We are dedicated to growing our social-emotional curriculum and making our classroom environments empathetic and impactful.
Teaching in a Title I school requires creativity and open-minded educators willing to embrace continuing education opportunities to see how we can best apply them to own classroom environments. Because of community members like you, we hope to attend this wonderful opportunity. Thank you.
