Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My two fourth grade classes are made up of forty-four enthusiastic and unique students who are ready to learn. They are inquisitive students always asking questions and wanting to learn more. Laptops in the classroom will help them become leaders by making technology readily available to them in order to research topics as well as complete mathematics programs to reinforce basic skills. Both of my classes are comprised of students with varying learning needs. The students would benefit from technology to assist them in completing assignments by increasing text size as well as having audio for their textbooks available right at their desks. Both classes are always eager to learn more about topics discussed in Science and Social Studies. They thrive on completing group and individual projects and experiments where they utilize computers to complete research and collect information.
My Project
These laptops will come in handy for my diverse learners to accomplish a variety of activities to become leaders by completing research projects as well as online programs to reinforce mathematics skills. At the moment, there are total of forty-four students between my two classes and only four computers. If we had more laptops in the classroom, we would be able to complete more rotations during guided math groups in which students can use online programs like Reflex Math, Sumdog, and i-Ready to practice basic math skills in a fun and engaging way. These laptops can also be used to complete research projects in the areas of Science and Social Studies.
By having these laptops readily available for my students, they will be able to utilize technology in order to complete a variety of tasks.
When completing research projects students can become leaders in the classroom by learning new information and compiling innovative projects using technology that they may share with fellow classmates about a vast array of subjects. Additionally, these laptops will be useful for those students who require special accommodations to complete assignments. For instance, some students in the class would benefit from larger text when reading their textbooks. This can be accomplished by using a laptop to access their textbook and enlarging the text from the comfort of their desk. Students would also benefit from the audio embedded in the series as well as translation to their native language to increase comprehension in Science and Social Studies.
