Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day I greet my students at the door, and we shake or give hugs. My students come ready to be awesome, excited learners every day. I start the day by asking "Class! Class! Are you ready?" and I am never disappointed by their responses.
My students are incredibly diverse.
I have students of all academic and cultural backgrounds. I have students reading at a pre-primer level to a fourth grade level. Most of my students come from broken homes and get shuffled back and forth weekly from parent to parent. My students want to do well and try their hardest. In the midst of it all many succeed, however I need to help my lowest reading level students the most right now to help get them to grade level and ready for the next year.
These particular students need more hands-on reading materials and heavy foundational practice to build phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and fluency. As with all reading skills their writing skills are extremely important as well and these items will help guide my students to be better writers.
My Project
These phonics, vocabulary, and word building puzzles and sight word sets will be best used in small group, pair work, or one-on-one teacher/student time. These items will help build my students' reading abilities in decoding, fluency, writing fluency, and spelling. These products will help my students become better readers and writers. These students who struggle the most are the ones who don't have access at home to materials for reading practice. These classroom supplies will be extremely useful and benefit my students' reading needs. My students will be able to construct simple words and sentences at their reading abilities. Students will be able to use pictures and puzzles to help guide their learning.
Donations to this project will help low income students become better readers to build a better foundation for their education.
These students will become better readers and writers so that they may reach their full potential and have a successful future. Students will not only enjoy using the hands-on colorful materials to practice their reading and writing but work on verbal skills as well. All-in-all, these materials are tools necessary to help second grade readers become their best.
