I need funding to participate in Breathe For Change, a professional development opportunity that will certify me as a wellness and yoga teacher and help me improve the social emotional wellness of my school community.
If you could walk the halls of our school, you would feel the energy of 750 minds at work. Our students are eager to grow and learn every day. They are busy reading, writing, analyzing, solving problems, and exploring the world around them. As budding readers and writers, they are learning how to use their voice to make a positive change in the world.
Each day brings joys and challenges that our students embrace and use to build themselves into better people.
Some of our students battle tremendous obstacles, but they are bright and resilient and eager to make the most of everyday of learning. I seek to create a safe and secure learning environment where students will thrive.
My Project
Yoga has been a gift to me over the last ten years of my life. A gift that gives me a calm mind, a strengthened body, and a renewed spirit. It has brought me increased mindfulness and stability in my personal and professional life. Yoga practice has been a pathway to mental and physical wellness and has equipped me to manage stress. I want to share this gift of well-being with my staff, students, and community.
Breathe For Change training will prepare me to teach inclusive and trauma informed yoga and wellness classes to my school community.
Breathe For Change is the world’s only RYT-200 wellness and yoga teacher training designed by educators for educators.
This research based program reveals the critical connection between teacher well-being and effective teaching. Educators are experiencing high levels of job stress which is leading to low levels of teacher retention. I want to provide a sustainable option for staff wellness to reduce burnout, stress, and emotional exhaustion. This renewed sense of educator well-being will transfer directly to students through a relaxed, supportive classroom environment. In addition, I will be equipped to lead yoga classes and social emotional learning sessions with students. These sessions will provide them with tools to cope with trauma and stress.
Upon completion of this training, I will be empowered to lead with love and share the gift of yoga and wellness with the teachers, students, and families in my community.
