Working with all students and teachers as an instructional coach is a dream job! Our teachers are LEADERS, and they eagerly want to explore with ways to advance their teaching practice. Our students are hard workers, deep thinkers, eager helpers, and servant leaders. Leadership is an expectation at our school, and we try to instill that in our students every day by having high expectations and incorporating leadership into learning.
Being a new school, it can be challenging to access materials to support student learning.
Our school is the newest elementary school in our Parish, and it is located in a rural area of Northwest Louisiana. Our school is blessed to service nearly 700 neighborhood children as well as many military children from our local Air Force Base. Our school population is also multi-cultural with students coming from many diverse backgrounds.
My Project
A trip the the RTI Institute will be a valuable experience for me personally. I will be able to bring the quality information back to our school to further strengthen our PLC/RTI foundation and ultimately impact our most important asset....our students! I know from experience that Solution Tree offers top-notch training from leading experts. Our school mission centers around learning and achievement for ALL students.
Strategies learned at this institute will allow us to meet the needs of each of our students and provide targeted instruction tailored to the success of every one of our young leaders.
At the conference I will learn how to:
• Target interventions to meet individual student needs
• Design master schedules that provide core instruction, interventions, and elective options for students at risk
• Identify effective Tier 3 interventions for students struggling with reading, writing, numeracy, and English language
• Use intervention time to extend learning for students who have already mastered grade-level expectations
• Understand my role and responsibilities in the RTI process
I believe this event will allow me to expand my expertise and understanding of the most current research focused on improving student achievement. I am extremely grateful for your consideration for funding for this professional development experience.
