Due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita our school system is suffering cuts across the board. This situation has had a great impact on all of those involved. I teach several students who no longer have the home they have always known. In order to make theirs and those around them have a more exciting and effective learning experience we are in need of some new seating accommodations. I am a sixth grade science teacher of 155 students who do all of their experiments on the floor of my room. I am hoping we can some how acquire at least six new science tables and thirty-three chairs in order to both make this time in class more comfortable and allow the students to learn from each other in a group setting. I have learned through my years that they really enjoy both teaching and learning from one another. I am certain that your help would be greatly appreciated not only by my students but our school system as well. Your generosity is a true blessing to all of us who work so hard to better our future.
