I have the privilege of teaching in a special education classroom with a group of creative and enthusiastic students. They come to school every day with big smiles on their faces and an eagerness to start the day. This eagerness is only amplified when they are given opportunities to learn in a fun way, whether it is through making a craft or singing songs. I am always in search of inventive ways to help my students learn!
Though every child in my class is different, we have built a community where we all support each other in meeting our own goals.
My students thrive when they are able to work in small groups to encourage each other to keep trying. They are also motivated to work by themselves when necessary to meet their goals. Students learn via board games, video-modeling, velcro created centers, crafts and more. We are really a group of dynamic learners always striving to be our best!
My Project
After returning to school post Hurricane Ida, I have been able to take the time to evaluate my students' needs. After reviewing data, I noticed my students require more targeted intervention in using descriptive language and spelling. The Magnetic Descriptive Rods will be provide a visual and hands-on way to enrich language skills. My students can even use the Jumbo Cardboard Boxes to build buildings and settings they read about in stories.
The Launch and Learn Beginning Sounds will be a fun and interactive way for students to play a game, practice taking turns, and identify beginning sounds to words.
Moreover, my students already have the Snap and Build digraphs game, and they love it! The Snap and Build Vowel Sounds will give them another outlet to practice spelling first and second grade words.
To top all of it off, I'd like to use more echo microphones throughout the day. I have a few, and they've proven to be an exceptional motivator for students to respond to questions!
