Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students learn that apart from college plans and academic scores they make a difference and keep alive a great American tradition of classics that brought us ’E Pluribus Unum” and ” Sic Semper Tyrannis”.
By taking on a ‘tough’ area of study they raise the bar for all the school community.
If They Can Do It, I Can Do It Too!
“LOL” is “Latin Out Loud”.
Work hard and be proud!
My Project
Our Latin programme has been a mainstay of World Language curriculum for over 20 years. Our textbook series, the Cambridge Latin Course, has undergone 4 editions, proving to be an enduring means of Latin instruction. The benefits of the recently introduced educational programmes that blend internet-based media with the traditional classroom methods are beginning to be recognized by the classics teachers. But as time waits for no one, we must begin the process of rethinking our traditional approaches and to overcome the perception of Latin being a “tough”” language to study.
This year, we begin transitioning to a new, 5th edition of the Cambridge Latin Course, with the following resources accessible to via editors’ designed “Elevate” platform:
WebBooks (online editions of the textbooks), interactive versions of the stories, video dramatizations of the stories, cultural background videos, language manipulation activities, vocabulary testers and dictionaries.
Someone has said that "For a dead language, Latin is pretty lively”.
