My students need a Chromebook, a table, and bean bag chair refills to make our classroom complete! We are already on the way to adding flexible seating and technology, just help us finish out our classroom!
Over the past few years, the Ohio Standardized testing has proven a difficult venture for our students. From 2017 to 2018 our English scores have dropped. We have done many things to help improve test scores but none of those changes have been to the classroom itself.
I want to make my classroom a place for my students to feel comfortable and be motivated to learn.
Many of my students come from low-income homes and are working after school and many of them are dedicated to after-school programs. My students are constantly telling me how late they are making it home, some as late as 11pm, and I want to provide a space that feels like home! By providing a comfortable space for my students I am hoping this motivates them to continue to work as hard as possible!
My Project
I already had the opportunity to complete a flexible seating upgrade but felt like we were missing a few pieces of our puzzle. I want to have both a classroom iPad and Chromebook available to my students, and I want to add a bistro-like set up in the back of the room for those students who want to work independently!

By purchasing a Chromebook I will be adding a second piece of technology to be available to my students. The high table and bean bag fill will be used to add to the flexible seating in my classroom. The bean bag fill will go into chairs at are already purchased by me personally and through a previous DonorsChoose project! The high table will be an additional seating option for my students to find a space that works best for them!
My students will have the opportunity for extra flexible seating options and an opportunity to use technology in the classroom. I am excited to add a bistro table setting and some extra fluff to already purchased bean bag chairs! Not only that I am excited to include a classroom Chromebook for students to use for educational uses! Ms. B's Abode is on the way to being a student-centered environment!
