My Students

My students come to school every day (with 98.4% attendance) in a diverse, low-income, urban community. The demographics of my school includes Asian, African American, Latino, and Caucasian students. One goal, as a school community, is to focus on the whole child. My classroom is dedicated to tolerance and humanitarianism. I focus my lessons on the human experience to instill empathy into my students in hopes to create a better world for their generation and generations after. We utilize a vast range of texts, sources, and technology that is available to further understand our world and the responsibilities of a citizen of the United States. I want my students to continue to ask deeper questions about their world, analyze perspectives of others, and be able to support their ideas with evidence.

My Project

My students print things all the time in my classroom. Whether it is a five paragraph essay to respond to a DBQ assignment or pieces to a project for History Fair, my students need to print papers all the time. The problem is that my students do not have access to printing unless they are in the computer lab, which is only once a week.

A laser printer would help my students be able to print anything they need in a swift manner.

Inkjet printers need to have their ink replaced all too frequently. A laser printer would allow thousands of papers to be printed before the toner would need to be replaced. The impact of this printer in my classroom would be insurmountable.
