This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

GSA is an alternative school/program for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. I am the Social Emotional Learning Specialist at GSA. I work with every student in our school. As a result, they often become socially isolated and suffer from low self-esteem and other social/emotional issues. These difficulties put our children at high risk for many emotional, social, and educational problems, including the inability to make friends or be a part of a group, poor self-concept, academic failure, and being labeled clumsy, uncooperative, belligerent, disruptive, or "out of control." Anxiety, depression, aggression, or other behavior problems many times follow.

My Project

These laptops will allow us to individualize our curriculum for our students. All of our students have been placed in our program because they were not successful in a traditional classroom or emotional disabilities classroom.

We are their last chance at making it in education.

They have been kicked out of every program available to them. We need to make sure that, as a school, we have all the resources we can at hand to make our students successful.

By being able to gift them with items to make their work easier and more special they will continue to work hard. A little appreciation goes a long way to students and my students give so much.
