I'm hoping to provide my students with the knowledge that they will need in order to be better prepared for the future and accept any challenges that may come their way. I want my students to have every opportunity possible to succeed and learn in third grade.
My third graders are always excited about learning, especially when technology is integrated into our lessons.
All my students love school and always try their best on all assignments. Our school is a very warm and nurturing environment where students grow academically. We pride ourselves on having a strong community of teachers and parents who work together and want what is best for OUR students. My students are very hardworking and thrive off being challenged. Their ability to use high order thinking skills has greatly impressed me! They love going to our computer lab where they can work on content learned in class or conduct research to further their own learning. I want to utilize their love of learning and Chromebooks to encourage students to take control of their own learning.
My Project
My students need a class set of 30 Samsung Chromebook laptops and two laptop carts for storage. My students will use these laptops for research and to practice multiple content areas. Laptops are versatile, allowing my students choices as to how they research, then, present their findings and opinions. Students will also get to enjoy practicing various math, and reading skills in a new creative way. Some of my students do not have computer access at home; by having these laptops in class, students will have a chance to look further into different ideas. One of my favorite projects to do with my students is researching the solar system. My students always love using computers to complete this assignment, by researching characteristics of their selected planet, finding diagrams and researching photographs. I want to allow that to continue to happen every year. Students will also be able to continue independent learning about all content areas on their individual learning level.

Students will discover how to learn information by using texts and Chromebooks. They will have a chance to research credible information and further their own learning. Students will take the skills they learn about conducting research and will then use them in the real world. Students will also learn responsibility by keeping their Chromebooks safely stored in the carts.
