My students are young, inquiring minds that need resources to become global learners. They are a diverse group and excited to work as a team. Our school is one of four C.F. I. Magnet Schools in the Indianapolis Public Schools. We are focused on inquiry-based learning through reading and writing workshop. Part of our mission is to develop socially responsible citizens in a changing global society. Our urban setting allows for multicultural experiences in our immediate neighborhood and beyond. My 3rd grade students are eager to be hands-on in learning experiences! Hands-on learning creates engagement.
With the addition of 3 more Chromebooks to our classroom, we move closer to a 1:1 experience for the students. I load many favorite websites for math and reading literacy. We also use Google Docs during writing workshop and for communication home to parents. Students love having a laptop at their fingertips. I would like to further explore Google Classroom once we have enough Chromebooks for all 23 students. Paired with a bluetooth printer from a previous project, students are able to use the Chromebooks to publish during writers workshop. The students are so creative. Adding to our collection is exciting as we begin a new school year.
