I currently teach Math and Science to about 60 students, which includes 15-20 English Language Learners. My students are eager to learn and grow as global citizens. They are helpful towards one another and love to experience new things. They work together in cooperative groups and love being creative through various outlets.
While my students' needs are diverse, they all share a passion for learning.
They also get opportunities to work within the community by doing service learning projects together. My school is an International Baccalaureate school, which allows students to become more globally aware and encourages them to be principled, empathetic and reflective.
My Project
As we become a world filled with technology, the uses of that technology in the classroom become endless. My school utilizes an Intervention program for Math that is tailored to each student's strengths and weaknesses, and I constantly use the Google G-Suite for Education for assignments and digital projects in Science. My students love using Google Earth to explore parts of the world they may never get to see, and love playing trivia and review games on Kahoot! We have about a 2:1 ratio of students to computers in my classroom, and the headphones that were donated to my classroom three years ago are slowly but surely coming to the end of their best days.
With the donation of extra Chromebooks and new headphones, my students will be able to improve math skills through their Intervention program while also having more opportunities to research and explore the world in Science.
Additionally, my English Language Learners (ELLs) will be able to translate when necessary and can complete modified digital class work assignments. The products offered through Google have helped make education using technology so much easier, and I love that it is both teacher and student-friendly, even for my ELLs.
I look forward to being able to have brand new headphones to help my students stay focused on their Math Interventions. Additional chrome books will allow more students to utilize technology during small group lessons and while working on group or partner projects. Thank you in advance for considering a donation to our classroom!
