My Students
I teach Reading and Language Arts to 44 first grade students. All my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Since October our school started to serve dinner too. Some of them are still missing personal belongings due to Hurricane Harvey. Despite the many challenges they're facing, they are coming to school every single day. They want to be in school because they are very anxious and willing to learn all they can, so they may become successful in their lives.
My Project
We are studying about animals in danger of becoming extinct. We only have an old computer in the classroom. Having a new laptop will be a great resource for my students to research information about our different classroom projects. This will enable them to create and illustrate their own books.
This resource will help my students in different ways.
My low students could benefit practicing letters and sounds. My middle students will be able to practice reading complete sentences. My high students will be able to work in fluency and comprehension skills.
The majority of my students do not have access to a computer at home. This will give them the opportunity to learn how to use a computer in their daily learning activities.
