Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help my students become fluent typists, mathematicians, reading whizzes and stellar spellers! A laptop computer will provide a wonderful learning center for my special needs students. What a wonderful way to instill computer skills while learning in a fun manner.
I am teaching a very unique group of 3rd graders at a California Title 1 school that is mainly English Language Learners.
We have some students with learning disabilities that affect their learning in various ways. I have some students with attention issues, and others with processing disorders. About 85% of our school receives a free lunch because of financial difficulty. Any opportunity for them to get information in a variety of ways is welcomed. Even though they have a wide range of learning issues, they can all learn through the use of technology! They are capable of using this technology and enjoy using a variety of devices at school because many of them do not have that outside the classroom. Integrating technology into classroom instruction significantly increases student learning and engagement.
My Project
I am requesting a laptop computer. This will allow my students to make progress in all academic areas. I plan to set up a "Laptop Learning Center" where all of my special needs students will have access to practicing weekly spelling words, drilling of math facts, enhancing vocabulary building, learning typing skills, composing their own stories and much more. Providing these items will also allow my students endless opportunities that they don't get at home. Giving my students opportunities to learn using up-to-date materials will absolutely provide more than an education for my students; it will also provide them with the confidence needed to survive in the world today.

A "Laptop Learning Center" is a great way to enliven learning for those who learn differently from most. Interactive learning through the use of a laptop will allow my students the edge they need to acquire the necessary skills needed to get the best education they deserve.
