Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inner-city students with a predominantly Hispanic background. They are the nicest students I have ever taught! They are eager to learn and every year we make great progress. This year I am focusing on improving their reading and social and emotional skills. To be happier, they need creative supports that decrease their anxiety. They need an environment that shows love and care to encourage them to do their very best each and every day. This is my dream!
My Project
My students need a laptop to do research on the Internet in the classroom. We currently have 3 laptops to share among 120 students who come to my classroom. Students have a research topic to do each week and have to take turns. I would like to have one more computer to ease the wait time as well as ensure that all students have an adequate amount of time to do their research.
My students come from the inner city and some are homeless.
Not every student has a computer or Internet access for schoolwork at home. In the sixth grade, they never say that they don't have a computer, due to the social affect that would have on them. Thus, being able to provide enough technology and access to it equally is a premium.
