We are located in an extremely overcrowded elementary school in New York. We work very hard and appreciate learning through laughter, fun, and play. It is a long school day when all we do is sit in our seats and work.
You often hear an explosion of laughter coming from my classroom.
A second grade is an awesome place for any child to be. I am a second-grade teacher for a very eager and excitable group of children. I am truly a lucky teacher.
My Project
My favorite time of the school day is when my students are scattered around the room working either alone or with someone else. For some reason children like to sit on the floor in the corners of the room. I would like to make it easier for my children to be productive while working.
It is sometimes difficult to watch a child balance their books and pencils while working on the floor.
Lap desks would be the answer to this problem. The lap desks I am hoping to receive are designed with children in mind. They have side pockets for pencils, markers, and erasers (all essential items for a seven year old). There is a comfortable, flat table that fits over their legs that will hold their books steady while writing. Plus these lap desks are stackable so they will not take up a lot of space.
