My Students

The students in my classroom have disabilities that require specialized instruction. My district has a high incidence of low income families. Due to this, families are unable to support our special education classrooms. It is often left to the special education teachers to fund our classrooms.

My students deserve to have access to materials which meet their individual learning needs.

My students often have short attention spans. Having the ability to sit comfortably, get needed sensory input, and working in a seat that works for them will increase their on-task time and will make them happier students.

My Project

These lap desks will make a huge difference in my classroom! I teach special education students who have unique needs and often have a short attention span. These portable lap desks will help with that!

Having a seat which will meet their needs will go a long ways towards meeting the individual learning needs of my students.

Students need to sit where they can be successful learners. After 10 years of teaching, I am a strong believer that a classic classroom chair is not perfect for every student. Many students like to work on or near the floor and these desks would achieve that.
